FED: Research expedition leaves for Antarctic

More than 100 leading Australian researchers and scientists are heading to Antarctica
to unlock the secrets of icebergs .. and how they affect the world's climate.

Departing from Hobart .. the Aurora Australia will arrive at Australia's most southerly
Antarctic station .. Davis .. in eight to ten days.

The expedition will focus on the formation of icebergs as they break off from floating
ice shelves.

Most of the research will be conducted on the Amery ice shelf .. which has been cracking
over the last decade.
