NSW: Worker was insidious sexual harasser commission
A commission has found that a sacked computer expert who exposed himself to two female
employees is an insidious sexual harasser who's lucky not to have criminal charges filed
against him.
The New South Wales Industrial Relations Commission has upheld the dismissal of a 27-year-old
Australian Water Technologies employee who was sacked last September for serious misconduct.
Commission deputy president PETER SAMS found the worker had deliberately and intentional
exposed himself to two female employees on more than two occasions.
The judgment, handed down last week, found the man had a bizarre obsession with a female
co-worker.
The married mother had complained to her superiors after the man exposed himself and
spent hours staring at her while she worked.
The commission also was told the company's computer log revealed the man had accessed
19 sexually related sites on 43 occasions over a four-month period.
But the man rejected the accusations claiming he had a special relationship with the
married worker.
The commission heard the man had left the woman his entire estate, including two properties,
in his will.
Deputy president SAMS said it was obvious the man was obsessed with the woman and had
interpreted their workplace friendship as a mutual romantic attachment.
